We are committed to supporting a trauma informed workforce across Somerset. Here you’ll find a range of face-to-face and online training courses designed to help professionals understand the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and to apply trauma informed approaches in their work.

Trauma Informed Training:

Whether you’re just beginning your learning or looking to deepen your understanding, these courses offer accessible, practical, and often free or low-cost options for professionals and volunteers working with children, young people, families, and adults.

Becoming Trauma Informed in Somerset

Our most popular course, this free, full day course is CPD accredited and is kindly coordinated and evaluated by Somerset Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Face to Face – Full Day 9.30am – 3pm

Who is this course for?
The course is aimed at staff who provide support services to children, young people, families and adults.

How much does it cost?
This course is free to all agencies and professionals working in Somerset.

This training has been developed in partnership between Somerset’s Educational Psychology Service and the SSCP, it will enable participants to:

  • Gain an understanding of what trauma and adverse childhood experiences are and how they can impact individuals
  • Understand the symptoms of trauma and recognising stress responses
  • Understand what it means to become trauma informed and how it can be developed
  • Consider what trauma informed principles you can use to support your interactions with people

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) and Trauma

Introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences – Early Trauma Online Learning.

Online eLearning – Duration: Approximately 50 minutes.

Who is this course for?
Practitioners, professionals and volunteers who work with children, young people and their families.

How much does it cost?
£5.00 – There is a 25% discount for non-profit organisations (charities, schools, government, etc).
