Becoming Trauma Informed in Somerset training

The Somerset Trauma Informed Network has been running Becoming Trauma Informed in Somerset training since October 2024, and nearly 200 practitioners have been trained, supporting a more trauma informed approach across Somerset agencies. Click the link below for further information and booking!

The CPD accredited training is aimed at frontline practitioners and will provide an understanding of how trauma can affect children, young people and adults. It enables practitioners to:

  • Gain an understanding of what trauma and adverse childhood experiences are and how they can impact individuals.
  • Understand the symptoms of trauma and recognising stress responses.
  • Understand what it means to become trauma informed and how you can develop your practice around this.
  • Consider what trauma informed principles you can use to support your interactions with people.

The training has been well received by a wide range of practitioners, with the following feedback:

Thank you for the opportunity to have this training, it is so important to recognise the impact that trauma can have on individuals and feeling confident in the support they can access.

It was helpful to hear different views from other services. It showed how joining up information and working together helps us understand a person better to support them in a more consistent way.

I feel more confident working with families in a trauma informed way

The training was positive as there was a range of experience in the room which gave chance to bounce ideas and experiences off each other. Clear training was provided with a lot of opportunities to open questions to the floor.
