The Somerset Trauma Informed Network is a group of individuals and organisations who are committed to a journey of becoming more trauma informed in their practice and policy.
From April 2024, you can join the Network to receive updates about new resources, upcoming training and learning opportunities! We also have information pages as part of the SSCP website, including a Resource Hub for practitioners, which we will continue to grow with input from the Network.
The Network will be holding events to bring people together who are passionate about trauma informed approaches, with a range of speakers including experts by experience. This will be an opportunity to highlight good practice and innovation nationally and within our area.
As part of our series of events, we held a Forum Week in June which focused on Trauma Informed practice. Throughout the week, we heard from a range of practitioners across agencies who delivered the following sessions:
- Introduction to Trauma Informed Practice – Warren Larkin (Consultant Clinical Psychologist) and Dr Tim Cockerill (Principal Educational Psychologist) will provide an introduction to Trauma Informed practice
- Lads Like Us – lived experience speakers who seek to change the narrative and pioneer a trauma informed approach so boys and men are heard. You can find out more on their website.
- Understanding Trauma – Somerset Council Emotional Health and Wellbeing Team and FCAMHS will explore trauma and recovery, and focus in on children’s perspectives on Trauma Informed approaches
- Trauma Informed in Practice – Public Health and Minerva School will focus on examples of embedding Trauma Informed approaches into practice
To receive regular updates about upcoming events and opportunities, sign up to the Network here.
We would also like to hear from you! Has your team or agency achieved positive change through trauma informed approaches? The Network are looking to create case studies to share learning and positive practice, so please get in touch!
